About FLEXTech
FLEXTech is an innovative program that supports mobility into cybersecurity and information technology fields. It is funded through a Department of Labor federal grant to help support students. It is a unique flexible program designed to fit the needs of students and employers.
Students enrolled in the FLEXTech program are pursuing degree programs and certificates in Cloud Computing, GIS, Web & Mobile Development, Database, Computer Networking, Computer Systems, and Cybersecurity.
The FLEXTech program works diligently to connect employers and students through events, career fairs, mentorship moments, and through the use of Handshake.

FLEXTech has been an amazing resource for me as I have begun my cybersecurity career! It has helped me to begin building my network, write my resume/cover letter, prepare for interviews, build my LinkedIn profile, and get some insider information about the industry through Zoom workshops.
I still have yet to take advantage of the tutoring. One of my favorite things that FLEXTech has provided is a Handshake profile. Handshake is like a job site specifically for college students and I have landed a few opportunities on the past that usually would have been hard to find.

I've been passionate about Cybersecurity ever since I competed in my first Capture the Flag competition in high school. As much as I loved the field, I didn't know what steps to take to be successful in it. I didn't know what employers were looking for in a resume, and what to prepare before an interview. Then I discovered the FLEXTech program. Through Dr. Lewis's guidance and the program's teaching modules, I was able to refine my resume, craft my elevator speech, and prepare for a mock interview. Not only does the program help me become more career-ready, but by partnering with Handshake, the program gives us easy access to internships with reasonable requirements. It is thanks to FLEXTech that I am one step closer to my career goals of being a penetration tester.
